Sydenham Hill Woods is the result of nature claiming back the ornate back gardens of the grand Victorian houses that surrounded the area.
I wore the same black mourning dress that I had created for “The Forest Of Christmas” at Home several years before. I wandered along the many wooded pathways with a black dog and released helium-filled balloons. Each balloon carried a small memorial – to lost relatives, departed friends, remembered pets. Although the woods are a popular venue, sightings of the quiet Promenade were not guaranteed and the performance was glimpsed like a haunting.
